Welcome to SAMA

SAMA (Society of Amateur Muslim Astronomers)—a community dedicated to exploring the skies and connecting Islamic teachings with the wonders of astronomy. The name Sama means “sky” in Arabic, reflecting our mission to inspire Muslims to rediscover the beauty of the cosmos as described in the Quran.

Throughout history, Muslim scholars made groundbreaking contributions to astronomy, shaping our understanding of the universe. At SAMA, we honour this legacy by offering educational workshops, seminars, and outreach programs that explore the intersection of Islamic thought and modern astronomical science. We aim to empower individuals to connect deeply with the natural world, fostering a sense of awe and reflection upon the Creator’s magnificent creation.

Our activities are designed to encourage Muslims of all ages to rediscover the beauty of the night sky. Through stargazing events, celestial observation projects, and interactive educational resources, we invite you to join us in exploring the cosmos while deepening your understanding of Islamic teachings.

Whether you are an amateur astronomer, a student, or simply curious about the stars and their significance in Islam, our programs are for everyone. We believe that by reigniting the tradition of stargazing, we can cultivate a stronger connection to our faith, encourage scientific curiosity, and contribute to the ongoing legacy of Islamic scholarship in astronomy.

Join us in exploring the stars, learning from the past, and looking to the future.
